Indigenous peoples make up about 4.5% of the world’s population – yet 10% of the world’s poor are Indigenous peoples.
First Peoples Worldwide is excited and honored to be a part of this year’s Poverty Action Conference, where students will present development initiatives around the globe. The conference will be held at the University of Mary Washington, here in Fredericksburg, VA on October 5-6, 2012.
Hosted by the Two Dollar Challenge and the University of Mary Washington, and in alliance with Citizen Effect, First Peoples Worldwide, iOnPoverty, Living on One, Thinking Beyond Borders, ThinkImpact, Students Helping Honduras, and the Foundation for Sustainable Development, the Poverty Action Conference will feature experts from the development field who will review projects presented by students. The conference will also feature key note speakers Dean Karlan, Saundra Schimmelpfennig, and Jonathan Lewis.
If you are a student who is running, expanding, preparing to launch or simply considering the pursuit of an economic development initiative abroad, you can register for the 2012 Poverty Action Conference here. You’ll get the chance to share your work with other like-minded students and receive constructive feedback from a panel of experts.
